Grounded portrait: Brahmaki founders

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do/ who you are :)

Our names are Jenny & Jesper. We met in May 2018 and began a journey based on the celebration of life.

I, Jesper, started working on Brahmaki in 2015. I was in a long distance relationship that had my emotions flying all over the place and found yoga which help me center myself. It brought feelings of deep appreciations for life based on nothing else than the ability to be present in the moment.
As I began feeling this incredible joy and gratefulness for life something representing this wanted to be manifested: Brahmaki came alive.
Always disliked uncomfortable clothes and never liked wearing the same clothes as everyone else. So one day I asked my mom to teach me how to sew, she showed me some basic skills and then I spent the next year and a half infront of the sewing mashing - mostly making pants and less complicated garments for family, friends and myself.

In 2017 I went to Rishikesh to do my yoga teacher training and after that I went to Jaipur and there I met Nitin. He became a close friend and partner. After a few trips to Jaipur the next upcoming year, we put a team together of three: Sageer "Master Ji" that cuts all the fabrics; Ashis (seamster) and Sadhna (seamstress). We pay our employees monthly salaries so they can work in a stress free environment and never have to worry about having enough work to make the amount of money they need to provide for themselves and their families. Everything we do is made by hand by someone cared for and loved.

We wish to spread beauty and love around us as we meet and work with people on our journey.

True beauty is found within ourselves and Brahmaki just want to be a reflection of this.

What does yoga mean to you?

Yoga is a holistic approach to life. It's a tool to expand consciousness and a pathway back to our true selves.

Do you have a favorite studio/ retreat you want to share with us?

I started my journey at Yogahimsa (now yoga styrka). They had, and maybe still have, this great teacher, Per, that I really liked.
Now I teach at Yin & Yang Yoga Studio at Sankt Eriksgatan 104 in Stockholm, a small and super cozy studio with only one Shala that takes around 12 people. It's owned by the most amazing being, Malin. She's a true angel and it's a blessing having her in my life. Another studio with great teachers and energy is UrbanOm

Pls share your best tip on how to stay grounded on and off the mat.

Breathe. Plain and simple. When you observe your breath you are conscious. Whatever yoga class you attend, stay focused on the breath. That's where awareness and stillness is harnessed. Let everything else be secondary
I would deeply recommend people to look into "breath work". Dan Brule, Wim Hof and a few other pioneers in this field has discovered the power, and potential, of breathing in certain way to dive really deep, really fast. The breath is the most powerful tool we have to access new dimensions of being.
